In the Environmental Studies Program at Prescott College where I am a
professor of biology, research often focuses on natural history and
ecological problems in local ecosystems. With colleagues and students, I
typically concentrate on piņon-juniper woodland health and fire
history. This website will keep up to date on recent work by our
research group and draw attention to issues faced by those concerned
with the woodlands. There is an increasing amount of excellent research
occurring in other piņon-juniper woodlands as well, and I will try to
keep up and link those relevant papers on this site. The site will not
attempt to cover all of the piņon-juniper woodlands, such as those of
central New Mexico, the Great Basin and California (Pinus monophylla) or
northern Mexico (Pinus cembroides).
